The men and women who wear a badge, and serve our communities are largely good, honest, caring individuals. They serve us all by performing a dangerous, underpaid, and all too unappreciated job. This is why true incidents of civil rights violations are so hurtful. They injure not only a few persons, but they impugn the integrity of the entire corps of good officers.
The police have broad power to carry out their every day duties. In order to effectively do their job, police officers are immune to various laws applying to all other citizens. There is, however, a point when police officers cross the line of how far law enforcement can go. For example:
